What kind of work fits the person I am becoming?
Career direction. Career confusion usually comes from too little information rather than too little thinking: we try to decide by reflecting harder when what we need is a few real conversations and small experiments. Most people also underestimate how many paths their existing skills already open.

Three coffee conversations20 min
- List three people doing work you are curious about. Friends of friends count.
- Send each a short message asking for 20 minutes to hear how they got where they are. Ask for their story, not a job.
- Prepare three questions: what a normal week looks like, what surprised them, and what they wish they had known earlier.
- Afterwards, write down one thing that drew you in and one thing that put you off.
Skills underneath the job20 min
- List ten things you have done well in the past two years, at work, in study or outside both.
- For each, name the skill underneath it, such as explaining complex ideas, organising people or analysing data.
- Star the skills you enjoyed using, not only the ones you are good at.
- Search job postings for your starred skills instead of your current job title.
A one-week experiment15 min
- Pick one direction you are curious about.
- Design a test that fits inside a week: shadow someone, take a short free course, or volunteer for a small project.
- Decide in advance what would count as a good sign.
- When it is done, write three lines on what you learned about the work and about yourself.
