Who helps me grow, and how do I show up for them?
Relationships and boundaries. Adult friendships and working relationships rarely grow on their own; they need repeated, low-stakes contact, which busy people tend to drop first. Boundaries belong here too, because a clear no protects the time and goodwill you need for the people who matter most.

Draw your relationship map15 min
- Draw three circles: people close to you, people you see regularly, and people you would like to know better.
- Write names in each circle.
- Mark who leaves you energised and who you have lost touch with.
- Choose one person from the outer circles and contact them this week.
The kind no10 min
- Think of a request you want to decline.
- Acknowledge it in one sentence: “Thank you for thinking of me.”
- Say no clearly and briefly: “I can't take this on this term.”
- Offer an alternative only if you genuinely want to.
- Send it, and resist the urge to add a long apology.
Respond well to good news5 min
- When someone shares good news, stop what you are doing and look at them.
- Ask a question that lets them relive it, such as “How did you find out?”
- Name what it says about them, such as their effort, patience or skill.
- Keep the focus on them rather than turning to your own story.
